I think it's really unfortunate that many TKD artists feel
the need to defend their art (I'm not referring to you Fluffy). I think
there's a lot of "which art is better?" and TKD often "takes it
on the chin" due to its high kicks and limited punching in competition.
While I enjoy the mental exercise, the “style” debate is ultimately
pointless. The best way to learn how to
fight, is to fight. The only way to
truly answer the question is put two people in a field, and have them fight to
the death with no rules, and that would only prove which is the better fighter,
not the better style. The martial arts
are about so much more then fighting.
I’ve practiced many styles and TKD is one of my favorites,
and the competitions are some of the best to watch.
